Virgin Galactic is deep in the development of its new Delta class Suborbital space aircraft, with both research and private astronaut flights that are expected to start in the fall of 2026.
Virgin Galactic is also working together on a feasibility study with Lawrence LiMirore National Laboratory to look at the use of his mother -off aircraft to launch other spacecraft as a carrier platform at high altitudes.
“The progress on our spaceships is due to all systems and structures,” reports Michael Colglazerier, CEO of Virgin Galactic. He underlines a strong financial balance, “to perform our business model while we put our spaceships into commercial service.” Colglazier says that the commercial service is planned for 2026, with both research and private astronaut flights expected in the following year.
Conference interest
The construction of the New Delta Class Space plane from Virgin Galactic was assessed during the Business Conference Call of the second quarter of the company on the second quarter of 2025 on August 6.

The company emphasized ongoing work on Delta Class Systems and Structures, such as Wing Assembly that must be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, as well as the novel “Feather” assembly of the Craft. The feather system is used when the suborbital vehicle returns to the earth, making it more stable during the return process. The construction of the trunk of the Delta Class space ship is expected to be completed at the end of this year or early 2026.
Also noted in the business update, the progress was in a feasibility study to possibly develop a second room in Italy.

Flight frequency
The last meeting of the vehicles takes place in the Delta facility of Virgin Galactic near Phoenix, Arizona. The Delta Class space ships are being built to fly eight space emissions per month, with twelve times the monthly load or customer capacity of their original spaceship, VSS Unity.
